AC3 - Technical Skills

Procreate

I used procreate to make initial sketches.
I had a separate layer where I drew a box with a 2 point perspective. That gave me a template of how I should draw the chair with the right proportions.

Adobe Illustrator

I used the pen tool to trace around the drawing that I imported from procreate.

I downloaded images of wood and created masks together with the shapes I made previously.

The result was a more realistic looking design.
Sketchup CAD

I used Sketchup web to create the frame of the chair. This was only to get a sense of the shape, dimensions, and proportions of the chair. Making curved and spherical shapes is not an option in Sketchup so I decided to make a more edgy version.
I started by drawing the side profile of the chair with the right dimensions using the pen tool.

I then used the extruder tool to make this into a 3D shape, I expanded the shapes to the length I wanted to create the chair frame.

I copied the left side of the chair and used the resizing tool to make it mirrored. After that, I attached them together to make one shape.
